About the Scholarship

The Bomnin Family Endowed Business Scholarship was created to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who serve our community and country. This scholarship supports students at the University of Miami Herbert Business School and recognizes the legacy of service carried out by first responders and members of the U.S. Armed Forces. By investing in their education, the scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others.

How to Apply

Applications will be managed directly through the University of Miami. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Fall 2025 For currently enrolled UM Herbert Business School undergraduate students only.
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe County residents will receive priority.
  • Up to four scholarships will be awarded annually.
  • Awards will be made based on University policy and procedure.

Core Focus

This scholarship is dedicated to supporting students who are:

  • Descendants of first responders (firefighters and police officers)
  • Descendants of members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, including veterans
First responders and military personnel representing courage, sacrifice, and service values

This is the first scholarship at the University of Miami dedicated to honoring these brave men and women, and we want to ensure the process reflects that purpose in every way.

As part of the application, students will be asked to submit a video response for the selection committee to consider:

"Describe how the values of courage, sacrifice, and service embodied by first responders and members of the U.S. Armed Forces inspire your personal goals and academic journey. How do you hope to reflect these values in your own life?"
